DIALOGUE : FORUM AND TEXTS
I. PRESENTATION
* TEXTS
Here, we will propose texts from the philosophical canon.
They will be short - from 15 to 20 lines.
We will also try, when possible, to present the texts in their
original language. Thus, students of Latin, Greek,
German or English, will be able to explore the complexities
of these languages and contribute precious help to the elaboration
of our dictionary.
The composition of the club dictionary will be
one of our main activities. We begin it with the word child,
because it is easier for us to use recent work of students
which is directly linked to childhood: 'open door' posters,
a film analysis, a poem
Perhaps the initiation to philosophy should always
start with a reflection on childhood: childhood as
"age of prejudices" (DESCARTES), childhood as "age
of reason" (ROUSSEAU) etc
But this should not make
us neglect the notions linked to the first letters of the
alphabet.
Before coming to it later, in the present our
discussions on the child will be followed by activities on
education, on pupils and on school, on
surprise, spirit and esteem.
Of course, this series of concepts, which often
interconnect, should not make us forget the notions of slavery,
equality or State, and even experience and
exchange.
* FORUM
Tell us right now, in the forum:
- in what order you would approach these notions
- what assessment you make of their relevance/importance
- what other text(s) should be examined, to understand what
the child is
- what should be the content of an extensive analysis of childhood
Do not hesitate to take an active part in the
writing of this page of the dictionary.
Do not hesitate to give the best of yourself.
